Grooming pets since 1996, owner Bernie Machado has garnered accolades
and local awards for her first shop, Bernie's Grooming, located
inside the Animal Care and Control building in the Mission. Opening
this sister shop has always been a dream. A wide-open transparent
space, mixed with cool vintage finds, City Dogs is the perfect spot to
settle into a pair of rad chairs from the '40s and sip a coffee while
Fido is getting his glam on. Bonus: Despite its name, City Dogs doesn't
discriminate when it comes to four-legged creatures, offering grooming
services for cats, guinea pigs, and rabbits, too!

great deal on quality grooming for our dogs, and we have lived all over

more than 20 years of grooming experience, and her staff is top notch
as well! Do yourself and your dog a favor and go to City Dogs Grooming!

The team at City Dogs | Bernie's Grooming has been a big supporter of Grateful Dogs Rescue. This rescue group – San Francisco's oldest – is an all-breed rescue group that works exclusively with San Francisco Animal Care and Control to save dogs in the city shelter who are not made available for adoption, through no fault of their own

About Grateful Dogs Rescue
Grateful Dogs Rescue, a non-profit organization, was founded more than twenty years ago by Michelle Parris, a former SF Animal Care & Control volunteer. She made it her mission to rescue dogs not made available for adoption because they needed some medical help or some behavioral training. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these special-needs dogs until a loving home is found. Since it's inception, City Dogs | Bernie's Grooming has been a big supporter of San Francisco dog rescue group. Today – meet Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.
Why the world needs Muttville
The tragic truth is that every day, dogs in good health with wonderful personalities are euthanized. Why? They’re older. And because they’re older, they’re not considered adoptable.
Shelter workers see it everyday: a dog is brought in because he can’t jog with his guardian anymore. Or he needs a little time to get up the stairs. Or he’s simply not a puppy.
Muttville’s mission is to change the way the world thinks about and treats older dogs and to create better lives for them through rescue, foster, adoption and hospice.
Muttville makes it it's mission to reach out to senior and special needs rescue dogs; find suitable homes for those dogs that are adoptable; and offer end of life care for those that are not. These are not just shelter dogs; every day, dogs are moved from loving homes to concrete cages because their guardians have died or moved or simply can’t care for them anymore.
If Muttville had their way, no dog would spend its last days in a cold, dark shelter. There is so much love and joy in these dogs! Bringing these special dogs into a home is not only good for the dogs, but such loving, mellow dogs transform the quality of life for the people who adopt or foster them.

Bernie's Grooming has hosted Muttville dog adoption events and provided complimentary grooming services to many Muttville dogs. If you are interested in fostering or adopting a senior dog, you can find lots of good information on their website at www.muttville.org

Since it's inception, City Dogs | Bernie's Grooming has been a big supporter of San Francisco's dog rescue groups. We'd like to introduce you to some of them. Today – meet SF SPCA!
The mission of the San Francisco SPCA is to save and protect animals, to provide care and treatment, to advocate for their welfare and to enhance the human-animal bond.
Imagine if animals didn’t need the support of San Francisco’s rescues and shelters. Imagine a community where every animal has a loving home.
The SF SPCA can imagine it. And they know how to get there. Last summer, they launched Vision 2020, a plan to end animal abandonment in San Francisco by 2020. Visit their website to learn more:
